Junior Leadership Program

Mr. DeShazo

Junior Leadership (JLP)

danield@leeschools.net

Hello, I am Mr. DeShazo, US History teacher and Junior Leadership instructor at Caloosa Middle. I came to Caloosa Middle three years ago, following an enlistment in the United States Marine Corps. Working as a teacher, I strive to instill within each student some of the same principles that the Marine Corps instilled in me: honesty, integrity, leadership, responsibility, and a sense of patriotic citizenship. But most importantly, I seek to cultivate a passion for learning within each student who walks through my classroom doors. I look forward to meeting you all. Go Cougars!

Physical Education

melissasta@leeschcools.net

It is great to be here in Caloosa Middle School. I have taught Physical Education here at Caloosa for 8 years and love every second of it.

I grew up in the Snowy area of Jamestown NY. I played sports throughout my childhood and still love to participate in a friendly game, no matter what sport, as an adult. I graduated from SUNY Cortland with my Bachelors degree and then proceeded to get my Masters at Canisius College in Physical Education.

In my classes I hope to encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth, over a must win attitude. I find sport/exercise to be a great stress reliever, escape from frustrations, and an opportunity to strengthen one’s self no matter winning or losing.
