Important Information

Due to Covid-19, most middle school team sports have been modified to in-house programs. This means there will be no tryouts or competitive teams traveling. We will be having an intramural program after school beginning 11/30 through 1/27.  We will be teaching skills and organizing a tournament. More details and a schedule will come as soon as we have an idea of the number of students interested.  A Lee County Intramural Insurance & Release Form is required to participate. It is available on our school website, in the cafeteria, or in the gym at school. It is also linked below. For more information, you can email

Basketball: November 30th thru January 28th

Soccer: February 1st thru March 12th

Volleyball: April 22nd thru June 4th

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

Are there any eligibility requirements for my child to participate in the Athletics?

Yes, there are requirements to participate in all sports:

-  Any student participating in athletics MUST provide a completed SCHOOL DISTRICT OF LEE COUNTY ATHLETIC ACKNOWLEDGEMENT, CONSENT, & RELEASE FORM before participating in any sports tryout.
- Students are required to have Medical Insurance.
- Students are required to have a GPA of 2.0 or higher.

- Students must first participate in the try out period before competing in team play.- Students are required to demonstrate exemplary behavior on and off the court/field and in the classroom.

How are the teams chosen?

Our competitive teams are chosen by the coaching staff at the conclusion of tryouts.  Students must attend all tryout dates in order to be considered for a team.  These teams compete against middle schools across the county.  Each sport has a separate boys and girls team, except golf which is co-ed.  In all sports 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students compete together except track.  In track, students are separated by grade level.

When do sports take place?

Tryouts and practices are held after school Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, from 4:00 pm to 5:20 pm.  Specific game schedules will be handed out by the coach on the first day of each sport.

Is transportation provided?

Activity buses will be provided by the school for participants.  The buses depart Caloosa Middle School at 5:30 pm and transport students to the school closest to their home.  From there it is the parent’s responsibility to pick up their child.  Buses do not drop students off at their regular bus stop.  You may also pick your child up at Caloosa Middle at the front of the school.  Students must be picked up no later than 5:30. See below for Activity Bus drop off locations.

Can my child participate in more than one sport?

Absolutely!  Students are encouraged to participate in multiple school-related activities, including sports, clubs, etc.  Our coaches work around other school-related schedules.  We want our students to experience all that Caloosa Middle has to offer.

What can I expect if my child is chosen for a team?

If chosen for a school team your child will be loaned a school uniform, which will be returned at the end of the season.  Additionally, each team member will be given a schedule of games, with times and locations so you can come and support the team.  Practices will continue to be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays during the competitive season.

Are parents allowed to watch practice/try-outs?

No, sorry.  For the safety and security of all students and coaches, parents are asked not to attend.
