US History and Civics

Ms. McGarry

US History - Grade 6

Hello! My name is Kristin McGarry and this is my first year at Caloosa Middle School. I teach 6th Grade US History and 6th Grade Global Perspectives. I am also the co-advisor for the Yearbook Club with Mr. Fisikelli. I have grown up in Cape Coral and I am so excited to be teaching here. I love teaching because of the students. Being able to not only teach, but make connections with students is the best job anyone can ask for. I am so blessed to have such an amazing group of students and I cannot wait to see where the rest of the school year has in store.

Mr. Johnson

Civics - Grade 7

This is Kaj Johnson and I teach Civics at CMS.  I am completing my 10th year at CMS and 15th as a teaching professional.  Teaching at the middle school level is something I've done for 15 years since I think I can change this age groups' outlook on their future.  In my classroom I incorporate what were are currently learning with American government decision-making and global current events.  This will reinforce the current standards we are learning and creates students who are universal thinkers.

Mr. Crayton

Civics - Grade 7 (Cambridge)

Hello, I am John Crayton and I currently teach US Civics for 7th graders.  I am A Fort myers native and a product of Lee County Schools. I am a big sports and Music fan. In my free time I enjoy playing guitar, Watching UF football, and spending time with my grandchildren. I  believe a success is built on a foundation of mutual respect. That is the foundation of my classroom expectations... that we are all respectful and responsible. I have been teaching for 15 years and I am really lucky because I have a job that I truly love. I really enjoy the interaction I get to have daily with my students. I love watching them grow not just academically, but as people as well.  I like to have fun in my classes, but the standards are high, but I believe every student can be successful if they put in the work. That is why  I have as my motto for all classes.."If better is possible then good is just not enough!"  I look forward to seeing you soon!

Mr. Turner

US History - Grade 8 and Study Hall

My name is Mr. Turner. I teach 8th grade US History and Study Hall at Caloosa Middle School. I am a big sports fan and love to go fishing as often as possible. I love having the opportunity to look back through American history and teach my students about our great country. In my classroom, you can expect to learn through a variety of ways and have fun while doing so. I absolutely love teaching here at CMS and look forward to meeting and getting to know each of you! Go Cougars!
