Mr. Bussey

US History - Grade 6 & Student Government

I've always wanted to be a teacher. I love working with kids and helping them reach their full potential in and out of the classroom. For me it is more than just teaching students content, it is about helping them become great young students who can be productive in society after the graduate from high school. In my class I expect everyone to listen and be respectful to each other and themselves. Everyone has their own opinions and in my classroom we will respect each others opinions even if they are different from our own. Students may get questions wrong but what matters most is that they put 100% effort into everything they do. I am looking forward to a great rest of the year here at CMS!

Ms. McGarry

US History - Grade 6

Hello! My name is Kristin McGarry and this is my first year at Caloosa Middle School. I teach 6th Grade US History and 6th Grade Global Perspectives. I am also the co-advisor for the Yearbook Club with Mr. Fisikelli. I have grown up in Cape Coral and I am so excited to be teaching here. I love teaching because of the students. Being able to not only teach, but make connections with students is the best job anyone can ask for. I am so blessed to have such an amazing group of students and I cannot wait to see where the rest of the school year has in store.

Mr. Johnson

Civics - Grade 7

This is Kaj Johnson and I teach Civics at CMS.  I am completing my 10th year at CMS and 15th as a teaching professional.  Teaching at the middle school level is something I've done for 15 years since I think I can change this age groups' outlook on their future.  In my classroom I incorporate what were are currently learning with American government decision-making and global current events.  This will reinforce the current standards we are learning and creates students who are universal thinkers.

Mr. Crayton

Civics - Grade 7 (Cambridge)

Hello, I am John Crayton and I currently teach US Civics for 7th graders.  I am A Fort myers native and a product of Lee County Schools. I am a big sports and Music fan. In my free time I enjoy playing guitar, Watching UF football, and spending time with my grandchildren. I  believe a success is built on a foundation of mutual respect. That is the foundation of my classroom expectations... that we are all respectful and responsible. I have been teaching for 15 years and I am really lucky because I have a job that I truly love. I really enjoy the interaction I get to have daily with my students. I love watching them grow not just academically, but as people as well.  I like to have fun in my classes, but the standards are high, but I believe every student can be successful if they put in the work. That is why  I have as my motto for all classes.."If better is possible then good is just not enough!"  I look forward to seeing you soon!

Hello, I am Mr. DeShazo, US History teacher and Junior Leadership instructor at Caloosa Middle. I came to Caloosa Middle three years ago, following an enlistment in the United States Marine Corps. Working as a teacher, I strive to instill within each student some of the same principles that the Marine Corps instilled in me: honesty, integrity, leadership, responsibility, and a sense of patriotic citizenship. But most importantly, I seek to cultivate a passion for learning within each student who walks through my classroom doors. I look forward to meeting you all. Go Cougars!
