Mission: To inspire a passion for learning and leadership
Vision: To become a world class middle school
Caloosa Middle School has a long tradition of excellence. While we opened the doors to our current facility in 2000, Caloosa Middle has served the community for over 40 years, first opening its doors in the fall of 1971. Today we serve a diverse population of approximately 900 students in grades 6 through 8, inspiring a passion for learning and leadership as we become a world class middle school.
At CMS the values of Learning and Leadership go hand in hand. Our students are leaders who take ownership of their education. Each day students are supported in their personal path of academic excellence and leadership growth through academic and leadership support time. Students work on their own “Genius Hour” projects or work towards mastery learning. Our AVID program is, at heart, a philosophy which all CMS educators share: to hold students accountable to the highest standards, and provide academic and social support.
CMS has fully implemented a 1:1 Chromebook model which serves to increase student engagement and achievement. Our caring teachers use technology to facilitate learning, allowing students to receive a more personalized education suited to their individual education needs. Programs allow students to work at their own level, while still receiving rigorous, standards-based instruction.
We want your child to find their passion at CMS. Offering a myriad of afterschool sports, clubs, and activities, students at CMS are encouraged to pursue their interests outside of the classroom. CMS recognizes the importance of extracurricular activities in the development of tomorrow’s global citizen.
Centrally located in the West Zone of the Lee County School District, Caloosa Middle School recognizes the importance of community engagement as we develop the future doctors, lawyers, engineers, teachers, biophysicists, and citizens of tomorrow. Community engagement is high at our school as we receive support from local businesses and leaders around our city. From collaborating with Cape Coral Hospital next door, to welcoming guest speakers from around our community, student learning stretches from the four walls of their classrooms to the real-world around them.
